The movie is set in AD 2314, and the background is worked out to details with the help of famous military commentator Isaku Okabe, with the intention to be more realistic and more open to main-stream sci-fi fans who haven't seen previous Gundam titles. Mobile Suit Gundam 00 is the first series in the Gundam franchise to adopt our real-life year numbering system (AD) instead of the Universal Century timeline. It was also announced that the film will have two theme songs (not specified as opening and ending), one by THE BACK HORN and the other by UVERworld. There's a buoy-like object in the background which might be a space colony, or the "biggest enemy ever". Pink-haired Feldt Grace looks like the main heroine here.
